Es war wieder einmal Zeit für einen Umzug. Nachdem ich mich mit WordPress hier angefreundet habe, habe ich Lust auf mehr bekommen. Die logische Konsequenz besteht für mich darin, das Blog selbst zu hosten.

Buying records since 1987, playing them seriously since 1991. Former aficionado and part-time resident at PURE, Edinburgh. A veteran of the original scene with the scars to prove it! 🙂 I’ll see how this goes and may upgrade to a pro account – but you can find all my mixes (hosted on Megaupload) via Discogs. They’re in the Mixes, Acid, When Trance was Good and Old Skool Lovers forums – and there’s also thread of mine in the Mixes Archive.
I use 2 (and sometimes 3) SL1210 Mk2’s and a DJM400 or DJM700 mixer and Magix Audiocleaning lab to record my mixes – no other funny stuff – so what you hear is what I do.
I try not to be a one-trick pony and do mixes in all sorts of genres – oldskool, acid, trance (GOOD trance obviously), techno, house, dub, minimal etc – my record collection is varied – and totals about 3800 pieces currently – and is still growing every week. Spomenik – Futuristische Denkmäler aus der Tito-Ära im ehem. Jugoslawien

Der ehem. jugoslawische Präsident Josip Broz Tito beauftragte in den 1960ern und 1970ern diverse Künstler und Architekten (Dušan Džamonja, Vojin Bakić, Miodrag Živković, Jordan and Iskra Grabul, Bogdan Bogdanović, Gradimir Medaković) mit der Errichtung mehrerer Monumente und Bauten zur Erinnerung an den zweiten Weltkrieg. Die Bauwerke, die an den Orten bedeutender Kampfhandlungen (Tjentište, Kozara and Kadinjača) und an den Standorten von Konzentrationslagern (z.B. Jasenovac und Niš) errichtet wurden, symbolisierten die Stärke der sozialistischen Republik Jugoslawiens und waren in den 1980ern beliebte Ausflugsziele.

Mit dem Zerfall des Staates Jugoslawiens Anfang der 1990er verloren die Monumente ihre Bedeutung und wurden ihrem Schicksal überlassen.

Der dänische Fotograf Jan Kempenaers hat zwischen 2003-2006 mit der Hilfe von alten Karten die Region des ehemaligen Jugoslawiens bereist und hat diese faszinierenden Bauwerke abgelichtet.

Losgelöst von allen Aussagen betrachtet, finde ich diese Monumente einfach unglaublich beeindruckend und fesselnd.
